Latin America considered the most dangerous region for journalists - Glendale Foreign Policy | Examiner.com: "During this year, 35 journalists were killed in Latin America, making the region the most dangerous place for the media, denounced this Monday the “Press Emblem Campaign” (PEC). According to the Swiss NGO, a total of 105 Communication professionals were murdered in 33 countries around the world this 2010.

The PEC report noted, however, that this past year was slightly better than 2009, which registered the killing of 122 journalists. PEC Secretary General Blaise Lempen said that this situation “has become an epidemic with no cure (...) The International Community has not found solutions to it, or put in place effective mechanisms for bringing the perpetrators of those crimes against journalists to trial.”"
