"Barclays has announced its decision to transfer the business of Barclays Private Clients International (Gibraltar) Limited to the Gibraltar branch of Barclays Bank PLC, following a rationalisation of the Barclays Gibraltar business.
A spokesman said that it is intended that the transfer of business and clients to the Gibraltar branch of Barclays Bank PLC will take effect by virtue of legislation, once passed by the Gibraltar Parliament. The transfer will take effect from the first quarter of 2011, and will not change the clients’ day-to-day banking/transactional service.

Barclays Wealth Country Manager Franco Cassar said: 'We can confirm that on the passing of the relevant legislation, all Barclays Private Clients International (Gibraltar) Limited contractual relationships with us will be moved to Barclays Bank PLC in Gibraltar. This will not impact our day-to-day service to clients for whom this transition will be completely seamless, nor will there be any effect on jobs. If clients do have any queries, they can of course contact us. We will also be writing to all our clients to explain the change.'"
