Driving at the new national maximum speed limit in Spain of 110km/h could damage your engine

. That’s the claim from the European Vehicle Guarantee Network, who say that cars sold in the EU are designed to cruise at speeds of between 115km/h and 130km/h for long periods.

They say cars with six gears and diesel models are those most affected, and that the recirculation valves for exhaust gases could be affected. Injectors, the catalyst and anti-particle filters are also likely to be affected, and any break down may not fall under the manufacturers guarantee.
