Spanish TV companies to lose half of their TDT channels
The Government needs the frequencies for new telecommunication servicesArchive Photo EFE The Ministry for Industry has told the television companies in Spain that they want them to give up half their channels in TDT digital terrestrial services. New frequency require mean all the channels will be moved before January 1 2015, affecting both public and private channels. The current TV frequencies will be assigned to telecommunications companies. The TV companies say it puts technologies such as High Definition or 3D in danger, and note that the public will have to adapt their antennas yet again. The companies have threatened to go to the courts in defence of their licences which had been issued for until 2025.
