A 47 year old male, of Bulgarian nationality, died this week in the town of La Molineta, after he set himself on fire in an apparent suicide bid.

The man was allegedly on the run from the police, having broken a restraining order preventing him from seeing his former partner, after he had been imprisoned for six months following him being found guilty of crimes of domestic violence.

The man had left prison and returned to his former home, where he apparently intended attacking his former victim. She fled the scene and alerted the authorities, who started a search for the man that lasted for several days.

After days on the run, it is claimed that the man then decided to end his own life, by setting himself alight. Emergency services attended the scene, but were unable to help him. A post mortem examination was carried out to confirm the cause of death.
